Awakening and collection

How awakening works in Duskar: winning the duel, teaching an aura, the awakening chance and its limit, difficulty, bonuses, your collection and the Inborn.

Awakening is how warriors join you. On an expedition you beat an unawakened warrior in a duel, then teach it an aura; if the aura takes, the warrior wakes up, joins your roster and keeps that aura for life. Every species you meet along the way also fills a page of your collection.

How awakening works

  1. Meet an unawakened warrior on an expedition and win the duel. Unawakened warriors carry no aura and fight with their bare stats.
  2. Pick an aura from your inventory and teach it. The aura is used up on every attempt, whether it works or not.
  3. Every won fight gives exactly one attempt. If it fails, the warrior is gone and you have to meet the species again.
  4. If it works, the warrior joins you as it was in the fight: same level, stats, attacks and value. Its synergy and XP start from zero.

Two limits apply: the warrior must be at most level 50, and its species must have an awakening difficulty from 1 to 5. If your roster is full, the new warrior goes straight to the planet army, which pays its value; the game warns you before you spend the aura.

Lost the duel? An Elixir of Power revives your fighter for a second try at the same warrior.

Awakening difficulty

Every species has an awakening difficulty, shown on its page in the warriors encyclopedia and on its sheet in your collection.

Difficulty Name
1 Low
2 Normal
3 Medium
4 High
5 Extreme
6 Cannot be awakened

Difficulty 6 covers the rare warriors, the forms that only come from evolution and a few species you can only get in other ways. Members of an unawakened team can never be awakened either.

The awakening chance

Your chance comes from four things:

  • The aura’s awakening power. Every aura you can teach has one, from 5 of 5 for the Invisible and Pink Auras to 1 of 5 for the Blood Aura. The higher the power, the better the chance. The auras encyclopedia lists them all.
  • The warrior’s level. The higher the warrior’s level, the lower the chance.
  • Your bonuses. Achievements, premium and weather multiply it, as listed below.
  • The difficulty. The higher the awakening difficulty, the lower the chance.

One attempt has an upper limit, whatever your bonuses.

Bonuses to the chance

Bonus Effect
Army achievement: 25, 100, 500 and up to 250,000 awakenings ×1.1 to ×2.0
The aura’s own achievement: awakenings with that aura ×1.1 per level, up to ×1.3-1.6 depending on the aura
Aura Expert: levels across your aura achievements ×1.05 to ×1.2
Strongman: your highest awakened level, 10 to 50 ×1.05 to ×1.15, only for warriors above level 40
Naturalist: species met, 25 to 400 ×1.02 to ×1.1 for a species you have not awakened yet
Recruiter level 3: 50 players you invited reach account level 50 ×1.1
Fighter premium / Elite premium ×1.2 / ×1.4
Lucky Star (newcomers) or Frost weather ×1.2
Eclipse weather ×1.4 for difficulty 5 only
Moonlit Night weather ×1.4 with the Heaven Aura only
Overcast Night / Very Cloudy weather ×0.8 / ×0.85

Early on, teach the Invisible Aura to warriors you will sell and keep the auras with good fight bonuses for warriors you mean to keep. The aura never changes later.

The aura stays for life

The aura you teach is the warrior’s for good: nothing in the game changes it. It works as a stat package in every fight: some auras raise attacks or defenses, some speed or condition, some change how much damage the warrior takes, and the Invisible Aura changes nothing at all. Compare them in the auras encyclopedia before you teach a rare species.

Your collection

The collection lists every species a warrior can belong to. Each one has one of three states:

  • Awakened: you have awakened, evolved or received a warrior of that species.
  • Met: you have met it on an expedition. Its sheet shows the awakening difficulty, how often it appears, its minimum level, where it lives and its resistances.
  • Unknown: you have not met it yet, so only its races show.

Species that no expedition ever meets are marked, so you know they come from evolution or other sources. Masters’ students and saga opponents are never part of the collection. Collection trophies wait at 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 species.

The Inborn

The Inborn are the rarest warriors of all. They are born with the Inborn Aura, which raises melee and special attack and defense, concentration and speed by 15% and cannot be taught. They appear in groups on planetoid grounds, one group at a time in the whole world. You can awaken them with any ordinary aura, without the level 50 and difficulty limits; one attempt still has an upper limit, but the Inborn Slayer achievement lets an attempt go past it. The first player to awaken a warrior from a group earns a world-first trophy. Where the groups appear and how to track them down is on the Inborn page.

Art from the game

Invisible Aura: no bonus in fights, but the highest awakening power, 5 of 5.
  • Pink Aura
Pink Aura: awakening power 5 of 5 and a small boost to both attacks.
  • Inborn Aura
Inborn Aura: +15% to six combat stats. Nobody can teach it; only the Inborn carry it.
  • Collection trophy
    Collection trophies wait at 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 awakened species.
  • Navim glowing with a violet aura facing a Gorvath army
Chronicle page I.3, Sky over Zalnyr: the Navim rise in a lilac glow while the Gorvath soldiers flee.
  • A line of glowing Aureli soldiers and a human student
Chronicle page II.7, Students of the Archives: humans and Ilyari stand beside the glowing Aureli line.

Questions players ask

How do I get a new warrior?

Go on expeditions until you meet an unawakened warrior, beat it in the duel and teach it an aura. If the awakening succeeds, the warrior joins you; if it fails, the aura is spent and you have to meet the species again. From account level 15 you can also buy warriors from other players on the market.

Can I change a warrior's aura later?

No. The aura you teach stays with the warrior for its whole life and shapes its stats in every fight. A hard-to-awaken warrior in a weak aura can still be worth keeping early on, but for a warrior you plan to keep, choose the aura with care.
