About Duskar

Who makes Duskar

Duskar is made by one person. I’m a solo developer who ran a browser game from 2016 to 2021 and decided to bring it back to life. Duskar is that game rebuilt from scratch: a new world, new warriors and art, and rules made for people who want a game that fits into a busy day. I make it in Poland, through my company Artur Rychcik Netshow.pl.

The idea behind it is simple. Every warrior you awaken has a life of its own: it grows, has its best years and one day fades. Nobody stays on top forever, so every season of the game gives new players a real chance at the peak.

Duskar is still in development and changes often. If you play now, you help shape it: tell me what works and what does not.

Does Duskar use AI?

Yes, for the art. Everything that makes Duskar a game was designed long before AI tools existed. The rules of fights and expeditions, the balance, the warriors’ stats and attacks, the masters and the rest of the game were created in 2016, and the game ran on them for years. What it lacked was art. It mostly used warrior drawings that artists had posted on DeviantArt: I had their verbal permission to use them in the game, but never the rights to them. The game’s income was never enough to hire an artist and make art of its own, because the game never had aggressive monetization. It paid for its servers and its moderation, and that was all.

AI tools changed that. With them I made Duskar’s own art for the warriors, the locations and the story, art I have the right to use. I invested in the tools and steered every image towards the world I had in mind from the very beginning. For solo developers like me, who have a vision and know how things should look but cannot make everything themselves, art included, this is an excellent solution.

Without these tools Duskar would not exist, because a one-person studio has no budget for a team of artists. They let me finally build the world I imagined in 2016, and they let small creators show their work to the world, not only big studios.
